Is Imported Chicken Good For Ghana
In 2010 the EU, USA and Brazil together exported over 200 000 tons of frozen chicken to Ghana, valued at $200 million. Worse still, imported chicken is being sold at below the cost of local chicken, and farmers here simply can’t compete – resulting in the collapse of dozens of farms and the loss of hundreds of jobs. David Ampofo receives journalist of the year award 1988.
In 1988 I was the journalist of the year and received my award at a spectacular ceremony held at the state house. Justice DF Annan PNDC member was the guest of honour. I received my award from the minister of information at the time Mohammed Ben Abdallah.
David Ampofo investigates Trokosi in the Volta Region.
In the mid 90’s I did a story on a controversial cultural practise found in parts of the Volta region called Trokosi. It was a Combined Artists production for MNET, and produced by my friend and favorite producer, Teri Leppan. There was a campaign to ban Trokosi championed by an NGO. I doubt they succeeded.
